Summer is in full swing. Every year, I hope we have a mild summer. Every year, I am wrong. But then again, I live in Texas where it is hot, especially in the summer.
This past spring was glorious! We had lots of rain that brought on an abundance of wildflowers. Texas is known for its springtime wildflowers, they absolutely showed off this year!
To me, summer has always been about being a little bit more laid back, enjoying the outdoors, cookouts, flip flops and homegrown tomatoes.
I have always loved to swim. Taking our grandkids to the river or local pool is a highlight for me. I used to be embarrassed to be seen in a bathing suit, being on the backside of middle age, but now I just enjoy myself. As long as I can swim and dive with them, it is all good.
Being outside and enjoying nature is like therapy to me How can you be in a dismal mood with so much beauty around? If I could hike or kayak every day, that would be fine with me
We love to explore, fish and discover new hidden treasures.
We have our jobs to do and lots of chores that have to be tended to. Our animals depend on us to provide for them. Even if it is over a hundred degrees, their safety and comfort comes first.
Texas has a long summer. When our neighbors to the north start wearing sweaters and boots in September, we are still in shorts and flip flops.
However, we will enjoy eating watermelon a little longer,
Fishing
Wading in the creek,
And just enjoying the warmer weather a little longer.
I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the summer. It will go by quickly!
On even a happier note, my nephew Sam, who is a 2nd Lieutenant in the Marines, ask his long time girlfriend, Kristen to marry him! She said yes!! I am so happy and excited for this lovely couple.
Until next time, take care of each other and be blessed!
