Summer around here is measured in horseback rides, checking cattle in the pasture, swimming in the river, stocktanks and kayaking.

The grandkids spend their days outside until exhaustion finally catches up with them. Riding horses throughthe pasture,

baseball games, rodeos,

and long days baling hay under the Texas sun.

Helping check cattle, swimming in the river until their hair smells like sunshine and water, and climbing into dusty trucks still damp from the afternoon heat.

It’s the kind of summer I hope they always remember.

Not perfect. Not fancy. Just full of horses, hard work, laughter, and freedom.

Until next time, be kind to each other,
xoxo
