I have had little time this summer to get to my studio—lots of family obligations and life.

I have always been inspired by nature.  I love foraging for deer sheds, odd-looking limbs and roots, rusty wire and nails.  I love animals.  I have recently purchased 3 horses that need homes.  My donkeys have decided they can stay.

I have found that I love creating a barnyard of slab-built animals.  It is a modern take on the sculptures.  Each one that I create, we have little conversations.

I love making big vases with lots of textures.  Attaching deer sheds or wooden handles, but making these animals have been just what I needed to shake things up.

I confess that I am not a sculptor.  I have no formal training and I do not know the correct anatomy of the animals.  I just sculpt what I feel and how I want the animals to look.  I am just having fun.

I will be hosted at Hill Country Dwellings in Hico Texas on October 12, 2024.  If you are in the area, please stop by and see me!  I will have lots of my barnyard animals and my signature pottery.  There will be wine and food provided. It will be a fun day.

Until next time, be kind to each other.

xoxo
