My whole family came to my house for Thanksgiving. It was wonderful.
My parents came from Asheville NC, my sister and brother in law and two dogs from Denver, my brother and girlfriend from Atlanta and my nephew from Birmingham.
They arrived to an ice storm. Thank goodness the roads were clear. It was a really beautiful site. Everything was covered in crystals.
The weather cleared just in time for the fun to begin
We had a chilly outdoor BBQ birthday celebration for my nephew Sam and BIL Dan. We were quickly warmed by the fire pit!
My brother’s sweet girlfriend Wendy, Steve, Me, my sister Kim and her husband Dan.
Kim and I doing our best Annie Oakly poses…
We all got a little skeet shooting in.
Thanksgiving Day was so much fun. My dad made pies, we all laughed and ate until we popped!
I even broke out my vintage china. I made Kim and Wendy wash them because I am sure I would have dropped them!
Kim and Dad brought farm fresh eggs from their chickens and ducks…yum!
Everyone had a little extra treat!
We enjoyed the outdoors and the sunshine.

Glenn “petting” the cows!
Kim, Dan and I visited Second Chance Farm owned by my neighbor Sandi (in the middle). She rescues abandoned and abused animals. That is worth a whole other post!
Steve and I sat still enough to have our picture taken together!
My mom and dad. Married 60 years this Christmas! (I can’t tell you how much I love these two people!)
They all went back to their homes to live their lives. But for 5 days, we were talking, hugging and remembering good times. I am truly blessed to have a close knit family, I do not take this for granted!
My dogs Red and Tess are wondering where everyone went!
I hope everyone had as wonderful Thanksgiving as I did!
XO

Cindy, you need to move the line about your parents in a picture. It says ‘My mom & dad.” It is right above a picture of your dad petting a cow. Your mom might not appreciate it.
It is very obvious that you are from a close knit family. I am sorry Chick Chick did not make the trip.
Virginia, I am sure my mom has called my dad worse! LOL
Chick Chick did not make it, but her eggs did!
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving as well! xo Cindy
Looks like a perfect Thanksgiving Cindy! And you know I have a soft spot for all of those beautiful herding dogs…especially the Aussies!
xo Kat
Kat, My sister brought her puppy Aussie down, Skeeter is his name! He and my Aussie, Tess played and played! They were so tired at the end of the day. My sis also has an older dog, Bucky, a border collie mix and he hung around my older dog Red. They kind of just supervised! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving as well! xo Cindy
Oh Cindy I am so happy for you I know how much you were looking forward to this. Time with family is the best. Your photos are wonderful and I can see the love in everyone of the. 60 years I LOVE that you are a lucky lucky girl to be blessed with so much love. HUGS B
Thanks B! I am truly blessed! xo Cindy
Lovely! Our tradition has been to invite in Purdue international students and others on campus with no place to go for Thanksgiving. We usually have 20-25, and it is always a treat to prepare the traditional American meal for the foreign students, in particaular. We have everyone bring a dish to share that brings back fond memories of their family traditions. This year, however, I was to be in Iowa for the removal of my brother’s brain tumor. He specifically asked that I come home for his surgery, and of course, I did. He is doing great. If you have to have a brain tumor, his is the one you want to have. I drove home Tuesday night from Iowa to start a seven day stretch of working overnight at the hospital. We are very short staffed right now!! Oh, and I forgot to mention that our farm was hit by a tornado a few days before I drove to Iowa for my brother. Damage to our barn, fences down and LOTS of trees. A HUGE mess to clean up. That said, our neighbor invited us to their home for Thanksgiving…rabbit and squirrel..and a carry in with wonderful food, and nusic afterward before I had to leave for work. Gosh, I am just so thankful no one was injured in the storms that hit our area, and my brother will go on to live a long and fruitful life. Love and hugs from Flint Creek Farm in Indiana…..Chris Turpin, the Purdue Bug Man’s Wife!
Chris, I am so sorry for all your trials! I hope that your brother makes a successful, speedy recovery. I watched some of the tornado damage on TV. It looked awful! We had a F5 tornado in our little town in the spring. It was devastating! We didn’t get any funding from FEMA, but you know what? Everyone pitched in and rebuilt. Neighbor helping neighbor. It was astounding!
We both are truly blessed! I hope you and your bug man (and family!) have a very Merry Christmas! xo Cindy
so happy for you girlie <3
It was so much fun Z! Best time ever!
WOW! What a wonderful holiday!!!! I’m so glad that all of you could get together!!!! The ice storm was beautiful through your lens, but probably not so beautiful to have to drive through. Glad the roads were clear and everyone arrived safely! Thanks for sharing!!!
Hugs and purrs,
“her” and Romeo
Thanks! We had a wonderful time. The cold just added to our coziness. I am so lucky to have such a great family! I hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful as well! …..and Romeo got lots of leftovers!
