There’s a shift in the air, even if the thermometer hasn’t quite caught on yet. Texas doesn’t always give us the crisp, cool mornings that other parts of the country welcome in September, but the signs of autumn are subtle and sure if you know where to look.

(Bob isn’t so subtle!)

The summer sun lingers a little lower in the sky. Afternoons still blaze hot, but evenings invite a gentler breeze. You’ll notice it when you step outside to feed the horses or sit on the porch with coffee.  You notice the rustle of leaves just beginning to dry at the edges.

Autumn in Texas isn’t about sudden transformation, it’s a slow unfolding. Cottonwoods and oaks trade their greens for warm golds and rusts, wild sunflowers line the country roads, and the sky itself seems to widen, painted in streaks of orange and lavender at dusk.

For me, this season is both grounding and inspiring. It’s a time to gather what summer has given, to slow down, and to ready my hands for the work ahead, whether that’s in clay, in the garden, or tending to animals. Autumn reminds us that beauty doesn’t always come in grand gestures; sometimes it whispers in small, everyday moments.

So as the season turns, I’ll welcome each cooler morning and each golden sunset with gratitude. Texas autumn may come late, but when it does, it feels like a gift worth waiting for.

Thank you for being here. I hope this season brings you simple joys, fresh inspiration, and moments worth savoring.

Until next time, be kind to each other.

xoxo
