One year ago today, I stepped into retirement—though it didn’t begin the way I imagined. I was caring for my husband after his knee replacement, and just as he began healing, a serious blood infection set him back.

Those early months were tough, but by September, he turned a corner. Today, I’m grateful. He’s healthy and back to the ranch and real estate.

I’m fully living this chapter. From  pottery in the studio to horseback rides, tending the garden, checking on baby birds, and working on my beehive, life feels rich and full. Add in sweet time with the grandkids, and I couldn’t ask for more.

I also carry with me the joy of my long career as a drafter and architectural designer.  I still love to dabble in technical drawings and admire the beauty of old architecture, it continues to inspire me in a quiet way. I don’t miss the traffic jams and office drama.  I miss my friends but working from my front porch, with the horses nickering and birdsong, is far more relaxing and thoughtful than any office ever was.

Retirement isn’t slowing down—it’s finally moving at the pace of my heart.

Enjooy your day!

Until next time, be kind to each other

xoxo
